Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • I prepare my manuscript according to the Authors Guidelines.
  • I confirm that the submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • I confirm that I prepared my article according to the Manuscript Template.
  • I confirm that the manuscript describes all necessary ethics according to the Ethical Code for Early Childhood Researchers (ECR).
  • I confirm that the manuscript has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • I confirm that the authors hold full responsibility against issues of copyright infringement, plagiarism, or other breaches. Therefore, manuscripts including other work or third-party copyright material must contain permission or sufficient acknowledgment.
  • I confirm that the authors hold full responsibility for obtaining permission from copyright holders for reproducing any illustrations, tables, figures, or lengthy quotations previously published elsewhere.
  • I confirm that references and citations were shown according to APA 7 referencing style.
  • I confirm that my submission is anonymised for review.
  • I confirm that after the editorial decision I will not be able to add any authors.
  • I confirm that all authors registered during submission. As a correspondent author, this is my responsibility.
  • I confirm that I did language proofreading before the submission.
  • I confirm that this manuscript was solely designed and written by the author(s) and that it has not been created by Artificial Intelligence (AI), Large Language Models (LLMs) or any other individuals.

Research Articles

Research articles should be highly scientific papers using qualitative, quantitative, mix and single subject methodology, and focusing on the topics related to early childhood education, child development, family studies, teacher and professional development, and early childhood special education from birth through 8 years of age. JCES seeks for submissions connecting applicable suggestions with quality practices. Theory, policy and practice are expected be tightly connected in the submitted papers.

Conceptual Articles

Conceptual articles should engage in a theoretical discussion and delve deeply into theoretical perspectives. Furthermore, conceptual articles should offer a critical perspective on existing theories and provide new viewpoints on topics related to early childhood education, child development, family studies focused on early childhood, early childhood education teachers and their professional development, and early childhood special education from birth through 8 years of age.  Submitted conceptual articles are expected to both draw upon and guide theories, policies, and practices.

Review Articles

Review articles should link theory and practice in early childhood studies and produce informative resources for educators, practitioners, and policymakers.  JCES seeks submissions connecting applicable suggestions with quality practices critically. Theory, policy, and practice are expected to be tightly connected in the submitted papers.
